Chaz Ortiz: 2008 AST Dew Tour: PlayStation® Pro Champ

The biggest crowed of the weekend-long action packed event came out to see the 2008 PlayStation® Pro Skateboard Park Final. The competition was intense with top riders like Ryan Sheckler, Paul Rodriguez, and young gun Chaz Ortiz, all shooting to be the next DEW CUP CHAMPION.

Amateur rider Timmy Knuth form Melbourne, Florida got a chance to compete with the experts at the PlayStation® Pro after winning the Free Flow Tour this year. 17  year-old Kunth made it to the finals finishing 4th overall.

The biggest shock of the weekend was Ryan Sheckler not making it in to the Final Jam Session after his back-to-back-to-back first place winning streak. Unfortunately things just weren’t coming together for him on his last run. The Dew Cup Championship has been passed down to 14 year-old rookie Chaz Ortiz.

"It's been ridiculous," says Ortiz. "Last year I took 6th in this contest as the Free Flow Tour champ and now I'm the Dew Cup champ. It's unreal. I wasn't expecting it, but I'm psyched."

Final score? Ortiz on top with 92.75, P-Rod in 2nd with 91.25, and Lutzka in 3rd with 86.75.
The win put Ortiz' overall points total to 430, ahead of P-Rod's 408 and Sheckler's 387 to make him the youngest Dew Cup champ in the history of the AST Dew Tour.

"I'm going to be out here trying to take it home again next year," says Ortiz, now a 9th grader in his hometown of Chicago. "But first things first: I have to go back to school on Wednesday."
