Photoshop free download is an image editing tool. It is very user friendly, compatible with Windows operating systems only. It is available for free for personal use as well. Called Paint.net, it has evolved to be a full-featured pixel-based image editor. It is ideal for different types of users given the range of tools. The three most distinctive features of Paint.net are:
1. User Friendly Interface: This is the best feature of Paint.net. The program has been designed in way that beginners need not go through the tutorials or user guides in order to use the program. For easy navigation, Paint.net uses a tabbed document interface, similar to what is being used in the latest web browsers.
2. Layers: Layers are typically only found in paid image editing tools. Familiarity with layers is very essential to stack effects or images on top of each other with layers. Thus, layers are a must to create rich image composition. The best way to use layers in Paint.net is to create an image that can be viewed by the naked eye by stacking transparency slides on top of each other.
3. Powerful Image Editing Tools: Some of the most powerful image editing tools of Paint.net are the clone stamp, the magic wand, and a simple text editor. This program has tools that help in drawing Bezier curves and splines with ease.
Through Paint.net, one can give all types of special effects to the images, such as red-eye removal, blurring, distortion, noise, sharpening, and embossing.
There are four floating palettes in Paint.net which can be opened and closed through the Window menu. These include:
- Tools Palette: It provides easy access to the most commonly used tools when working on Paint.net. There are two distinct groups into which Tools Palette can be split up (besides the Pan and Zoom tools): Selection tools and Painting tools. Selection tools offer different ways of selecting pixel groups while Painting tools offer various ways of colouring pixels. The Gradient tool, new for 3.0, has been cited as an innovative improvement over similar tools provided by other softwares.
- Colors Palette: It is by default minimized, and allows the user to specify the color palettes.
- History Palette: It provides the Undo/Redo operations, but on steroids. Everybody makes mistakes, and everybody changes their mind. The History Palette takes this into account.
- Layers Palette: It allows allowing different elements on different layers to be combined in more creative ways.
Paint.net is free to use. Updates are also free, and contain new features, performance improvements, etc. It is very simple to upgrade to the latest version.
It also has an online forum comprising of friendly, passionate, and ever-expanding community.
Even though there are several options available in photoshop free download, it has a few limitations as well. The users of other pixel-based image editor might find a few useful features present in other editors missing in this one. For instance, there are no native Layer Mask feature and adjustment layers. Also, those who rely on Dodge and Burn tools will be disappointed.
